The classic ' beauty light' , giving an exceptionally large and even light source. The octagonal shape gives remarkably even illumination using the reflection method. The flash fires into the back of the Octa, and the light is reflected out through the front diffuser. It can be positioned very close to the subject for a very soft effect at surprisingly low settings. Invented in 1982, their unique patented construction and design have won these large lightweight softboxes worldwide popularity. A lightweight die cast rigid central mounting for the flashhead inside the unit, which places the flashtube at the point of focus. The optical result is a light source, which is so even at the diffuser surface, that many famous photographers use the Octa as a single light source for portrait photography. In the U.S.A. it is often referred to as "The Beauty Light". This exceptional softness of the light has sold many of thousands of units, adapted to other flash systems, which do not have equivalent light sources.
